April 22, 2018 – Leaf-a-Legacy Tree Planting Day

Leaf-a-Legacy Tree Planting Day

April 22, 2018
12pm to 2:30pm
Fort Lewis College

Plant a tree and celebrate Earth Day with FLC Alumni and the Environmental Center!

Come out this Earth Day to plant trees that will build soil, restore our water table, sink carbon and ultimately feed the FLC community. Our day will begin with a farm-fresh BBQ featuring humane and locally-sourced meat and veggie options. Then we get to work! We will conclude with a bit of digging in the dirt to plant and dedicate our new apple trees, featuring Heritage varieties generously provided by the Montezuma Orchard Restoration Project.

If you want to honor someone you feel has “Leaf-ed” a Legacy on campus or our community, please consider ‘sponsoring’ a tree. These regionally endemic and beautiful trees are $200 each and will be paired with a plaque honoring the individual(s) you have identified. Your tax-deductible will be used to continue to maintain and support the Environmental Center and our Local Food Security Initiative. To sponsor a tree in someone’s name, please email Rachel Landis at RLLANDIS@fortlewis.edu and we will follow up with additional information.

This event is free and open to all alumni, families and community members.

All equipment is provided. We ask that you wear closed-toed shoes, bring gloves if you have them, a water bottle and sun protection.
